Teen drivers are faced with many new challenges. Learning how to drive an automobile and learn the rules of the road are just a few of the responsibilities that come with driving.

The Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) in partnership with Sate Farm Insurance have created a brochure with several important facts and recommendations for new drivers and parents to review. Several key items noted in the brochure include:

bluearrow (1K)Collisions cause three-fourths of all unintentional injury deaths among American and Washington teens.
bluearrow (1K)Even though teens comprise only 7 percent of all drivers in Washington State, they make up 15 percent of all drivers in fatal collisions.
bluearrow (1K)Eight-six percent of teen vehicle occupant deaths happen to those riding in vehicles driven by teen drivers.
bluearrow (1K)Four out of ten fatal crashes involving teen drivers occur between 9:00pm and 6:00am.
