Commission Members

Members of the Spokane County Traffic Safety Commission (SCTSC) include citizens and representatives from agencies and organizations throughout Spokane County.

The SCTSC was originally known as Citizen's Against Alcohol-Related Accidents (CARTA). CARTA began in 1981 as a special grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission through the Spokane County Engineer's.

In 1982, Spokane was named as one of the 10 Targets of Opportunity (T00) by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Since CARTA was already in existence, they oversaw the T00 programs.

In 1989, CARTA began the Spokane County Traffic Safety Commission. The two groups operated independently of each other until they merged as one organization under the Spokane County Traffic Safety Commission.

Current members of the Commission include both citizens and representatives from the following agencies and organizations...
